Project area: 150 hectares
Residences: 1100 homes
Development value: $24 million
A large area of vacant council-owned land close to Swan Hill’s town centre provided the opportunity for Places Victoria and Swan Hill Rural City Council to create a diverse range of new housing for the local community while also providing employment opportunities in the local building industry.
Revitalising Tower Hill
Tower Hill is currently home to about 500 residents.
The development is just minutes from central Swan Hill and features:
- Walking and cycling paths
- Regional playground, barbecue and picnic pavilion at Barry Steggall Park
- Easy access to schools and parkland
A café or retail store and a childcare centre are also planned to cater for residents.
Tower Hill is located close to the Sunraysia Institute of TAFE campus, a retirement village and industrial precinct.
The Tower Hill estate is home to the $1.3 million Barry Steggall Park, which opened in 2013. The park was developed by Places Victoria in partnership with Swan Hill Rural City Council and Swan Hill Inc.
The all-abilities playground features a state-of-the-art playground, generous green space and picnic and barbeque facilities.
Tower Hill is the first residential estate in Swan Hill to integrate Water Sensitive Urban Design principles, minimising its impact on the surrounding waterways.
